Calgary-based Avmax has announced it recently purchased five Embraer ERJ-145LR aircraft from GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS). The aircraft are leased to ViaAir in Florida. This is Axmax’s first acquisition of Embraer products and part of Avmax’s plan to expand its aircraft leasing portfolio.

“We are excited to be expanding our portfolio of aircraft to new types as an opportunistic buyer, working with valued customers and industry partners such as GECAS to find these types of new opportunities,” said Mark Maydaniuk, vice-president of business development for Avmax.
“Avmax is looking to expand our capabilities in a strategic and measured approach beyond simply the CRJ and Dash 8 market with the support of our financial and lending partners.”
Avmax purchased the Embraer aircraft on lease to ViaAir from GECAS as an income-producing lease. The aircraft will be used by ViaAir for essential air service routes in the southern United States.
Avmax also recently purchased its first wide-bodied aircraft, an Airbus A340-312, which is being leased to Air X Charter for VIP charters.
