AEA, Dallas, TX–(April 6, 2015) – ICG (International Communications Group, Inc.), headquartered in Newport News, Virginia, today announced that the DHC-8, -100, -200 and -300 series aircraft have become the latest additions to a growing list of aircraft which have earned Supplemental Type Certification for FANS-1/A systems which incorporate its NxtLink voice and data transceivers. Avmax Group of Companies completed the engineering and installation which enabled them to receive a Transport Canada Certification Authority (TCCA) Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) approval for FANS-1/A on the de Havilland Dash-8 series turboprops on March 20th 2015.
Avmax Group of Companies accomplished the STC by utilizing ICG’s NxtLink ICS-120A which incorporates a single Iridium voice and data transceiver with a dedicated short burst data modem for data link connectivity on and off the aircraft. The ICS-120A is part of the NxtLink series of products, which are now certified on numerous aircraft to enable Controller Pilot Datalink Communications (CPDLC) and Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Contract (ADS-C) portions of the FANS-1/A certification.
“The approval of this system on the Dash-8 series demonstrates the flexibility of the NxtLink system architecture and its adaptability to a wide diversity of airframes. NxtLink ICS-120A and ICS-220A systems are currently in use on a growing number of airframes that include business jets, airliners, cargo carriers, and now turboprop commuter aircraft,” said Tim Rayl, ICG’s Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing.
“ICG pioneered FANS over Iridium (FOI) technology, and its systems have been in increasing demand throughout the past 24 months among airline, cargo carriers and business operators worldwide who wish to take advantage of the more efficient, direct trans-oceanic routing and reduced minimum separations that FOI affords,” Rayl added.
